Hofschild records sixth double-double of the season in overtime defeat

SAN DIEGO – McKenna Hofschild recorded her sixth double-double of the season with a 34 points, 12 assist performance in an overtime loss at San Diego State, 74-71. The loss is the first Mountain West opening loss in four seasons and the fifth-consecutive loss in Viejas Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Colorado State took an early lead, but SDSU took over before the first quarter and built an eight-point advantage – its largest of the game
- The second quarter was a back-and-forth affair, as both teams traded backets for the exception of a five-point run midway through the frame by CSU
- CSU has been very good in the third quarter and Saturday the Rams outscored the Aztecs 22-7 to take a game-high nine points by the end
- The Rams used a 10-0 run to eliminate an eight-point deficit to take the lead. Marta Leimane added 10 points in the frame, making a pair of 3-pointers and jumpers in five minutes
- SDSU recharged in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Rams 18-9 to retake the lead with 5:29 left to play
- CSU went cold from majority of the frame, scoring just two points from 7:43 to 1:50
- Colorado State scored the final four points of the game and had a defensive stop to force overtime
- In the extra period, Hofschild scored eight of CSU's 11 points with four of them coming from the stripe
- The Rams never led in overtime but tied the score four times

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- McKenna Hofschild led all scorers with 34 points on 13-of-30 shooting and 7-for-11 from the charity stripe. She also added 12 of the Rams' 14 assists for her sixth double-double of the season.
