CSU sits in seventh place in a stacked field through round 1
LA QUINTA, Calif. – There is no easing into the spring season for Colorado State's men's golf team as they opened the first round of The Prestige on Monday. The Rams, No. 22 in the nation, join a stacked field featuring 11 of GolfStats top 50 teams at the Greg Norman Course at PGA West. CSU sits in seventh place after shooting a 1-over, 285 in round one.
Â
Colorado State came out of the gates fast with the duo of Connor Jones and Christoph Bleier who were three and two under through their first six holes, respectively. Each made the turn at 2-under. Teeing off on the 10th hole the front nine was not kind to CSU.
Â
Bleier shot a 1-over, 36 with a pair of bogeys and a birdie on it. He finished the day with a 1-under, 70 to be tied for 15th.
Â
Meanwhile, Jones rode a roller coaster of three birdies and five bogeys during his second nine finishing at even-par for the day to be tied for 27th. He wasn't the only Ram to shoot even-par as Rasmus Hjelm did too. He started his day with 16 straight pars before going bogey, birdie to close his day.
Â
In the individual tournament, Matthew Wilkinson leads all Rams shooting a 1-over, 73 on the Golf Club at Terra Lago north course.
Â
Round two of The Prestige starts bright and early for the Rams at 7:45 MT with the team going off the first tee. Live Results of the round can be found on GolfStat.
