Hofschild Named Finalist for Nancy Lieberman Award

Senior is one-of-five finalists for the award that recognizes the top point guard in women’s basketball
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Colorado State' McKenna Hofschild has been named a finalist for the 2023 Nancy Lieberman Award the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced Monday.

With just one game left of the regular season, Hofschild continues to lead the Mountain West and is No. 13 in the national in points per game with 21. She paces the Colorado State offense, which is the No. 46 scoring offense among DI schools and second the country in assist/turnover ratio with 3.60. The senior primes those numbers with her 3.48 assist/turnover mark which is No. 2 in all of DI basketball – men's and women's with over 100 assists. Even sitting at 5-foot-2, she is shooting over 49.3% from the floor and over 50 percent inside the arc.

Now in its 24th year, the award recognizes the top point guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. To be considered for this prestigious award, candidates must exhibit the floor leadership, playmaking and ball-handling skills of Class of 1996 Hall-of-Famer Nancy Lieberman.

Fans can support Hofschild in the remaining rounds by participating in Fan Voting, presented by Dell Technologies, starting Friday, March 3 on hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process. In March, the finalists will be presented to Lieberman and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The Selection Committee for the Nancy Lieberman Award is composed of top women's college basketball personnel including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers.

The winner of the 2023 Lieberman Award will be presented on a to be determined date, along with the four other members of the Women's Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award (Shooting Guard), Cheryl Miller Award (Small Forward), the Katrina McClain Award (Power Forward) and the Lisa Leslie Award (Center), in addition to the Men's Starting Five.
