Hofschild Earns Mountain West Player of the Week

The senior earns her third award of the season and seventh of her career
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After leading Colorado State to a pair of home victories last week, McKenna Hofschild was named the Mountain West Player of the Week. The senior earned her third weekly award of the season and seventh of her career.

The guard averaged nearly a double-double in the two games last week, averaging 23 points and 9.5 assists, while leading the Rams to a pair of victories at Moby Arena. Hofschild started the week with a double-double against Utah State, scoring 21 points and handing out 10 assists. Of her 10 assists, seven of them led to a made 3-pointer as CSU finished the game shooting 52% (13-of-25) from downtown. Colorado State also earned a last-second victory in the first edition of the Border War behind Hofschild's 25 points and nine assists. She made every trip to the charity stripe count, making all 10 attempts. Again, in her nine assists, five of them led to a made 3-pointer for CSU, including the last-second made 3-pointer by Cailyn Crocker with 1.6 seconds left. She finished the week shooting 42.9 percent from behind the arc and nearly perfect from the free throw line, missing just once in 20 trips.

Hofschild lead the Mountain West in scoring, averaging 21.6 points a game, which is also No. 10 in the country. She also paces the league and the nation in assist/turnover ratio at 4.15, assists with 170 (No. 5) and assist per game with 7.4 (No. 4).

Colorado State will head to California this week to face San Jose State on Thursday before playing at Fresno State on Saturday.
