Colorado State closed both rounds well on day 1 of the NIT
TUCSON, Ariz. – Colorado State men's golf is competing against the best of the best this weekend at the National Invitational Tournament. In a field that features nine top 30 teams in the nation, CSU shot an even-par, 536 to be in 11th place. The Rams struggled to start each round but closed strong both times.
Davis Bryant is a big reason for both strong finishes for the team. During round one he birdied two of his final three holes and ended his day with an eagle. Bryant fired off an opening round 70 and followed it up with a 69 to sit a 3-under and tie for seventh entering tomorrow's final round. He is four strokes out of first place and just two outside the top 5.
Christoph Bleier also finished his day under par with a total of 143. Like Bryant, he shaved a stroke off his score the second time around the course with a 1-under, 71 this afternoon. He caught fire down the stretch with birdies on three of his final five holes. Bleier is tied for 31st heading into the final round.
Colorado State sits five strokes behind Pepperdine and San Diego State to crack the top 10. CSU tees off at 9:00 am tomorrow. Live results can be found on GolfStat.
