Colorado State braves the wind and cold kickoff its outdoor season

PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado State Track and Field team opened its outdoor season both Friday and Saturday at the Spank Blasing Invitational hosted by CSU Pueblo. Coming off a successful indoor season, the Rams took on the cold and windy Colorado weather in order to start the outdoor season on a high note.
 
Top performers for the Rams include sophomore thrower Mya Lesnar who placed first in both the women's hammer throw and shot put and finished in second place in the women's discus.
 
Jackson Morris highlighted the Colorado State throwers on the men's side of things as the senior won the javelin throw with a mark of 64.71 meters and placed second in the discus with a mark of 51.52 meters.
 
On the track, the Colorado State women continued their dominant ways coming off of a Mountain West Indoor title as Jahzara Davis placed first in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.05 and Yolonda Johnson placed first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.20.
 
Things rounded out in the pits for the Rams as Jo-Anna Pinnock won the women's triple jump with a personal best mark of 12.60 meters, Taye Raymond claimed gold in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.77 meters and Jordan Lanning won the women's high jump, clearing 1.68 meters.
 
Colorado State will now set its eyes on one of its two home meets this season, the Jack Christiansen Invitational which is set to start at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon March 31.
