Four CSU women’s golfers sit in the top 25 at the Mountain West Championship
RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Colorado State women's golf teed off their championship season on Tuesday at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif. CSU sits in a tie for fifth place with UNLV through the first round after firing a 6-over, 294. New Mexico leads the tournament after shooting a 3-under, 285.
Four Rams are inside the top 25 led by Lacey Uchida's even par 72. The round has her tied for 13th. After recording a bogey on the opening hole, she followed it up with nine straight pars before birdieing the par 5 11th to return to even par. A bogey on the 14th hole pushed her back to 1-over before ending her day with her second birdie. She was just one of seven players in the field to birdie the final hole.
A trio of Rams shot a 2-over, 74 to be tied for 23rd. They were Sofia Torres, Andrea Bergsdottir and Panchalika Arphamongkol. Torres joined Uchida as one of seven players to birdie the 18th.
Colorado State enters tomorrow five strokes behind Nevada for fifth place entering tomorrow's second round. CSU will be paired with the Wolfpack and Rebels teeing off starting at 8:45 am MT. Live results can be found on GolfStat.
