Men’s Basketball Welcomes Home Joel Scott

The Division II Player of the Year joins the Rams
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado native and Division II Player of the Year Joel Scott is returning home to suit up for the Green and Gold next season. The transfer from Black Hills State will compete for the Rams in his final year of eligibility.
"We are excited to welcome Joel back home. He brings a versatile game that will fit in well with our team," head coach Niko Medved said. "Joel has been one of the best Division II players in the country for the past few years. We believe his game will translate well in the Mountain West. Plus, he has a great basketball pedigree in his family."
A native of Monument, Colorado, Scott was one of the best players in Division II last season averaging 23.0 points and 9.6 rebounds helping BHSU to its second straight Final Four.
Scott earned a variety of hardware while at Black Hills State, the 2023 D2CCA National Player of the Year, two-time Bevo Francis finalist, two-time NABC All-America selection, NABC All-Region first team, D2CCA All-Region first team and RMAC Player of the Year.
He was the nation's second-leading scorer with 805 points and 337 rebounds. His 16 double-doubles led the nation, as he finished top 5 in six different categories and top 15 in 11 different.
A graduate of Lewis-Palmer High School, he led his team to an undefeated season and 4A State Championship as a senior after finishing as the runners-up the year before.
Scott comes from a basketball family. His mom Theresa played for Air Force while his brothers Josh, Jordan and Jonathan played at Colorado, Idaho and Chattanooga, respectively. His dad, Alton, also played football at Air Force.
He joins previous signees of Kyan Evans and Rashaan Mbemba as the newest Rams in 2023-24.
