Consistent Rams Two Shots off the Lead

Christoph Bleier is tied for first after day 1 of the NCAA Regionals
AUBURN, Ala. – Consistency was key for Colorado State men's golf in the opening round of the Auburn NCAA Regional. The Rams shot an opening round 3-under, 285 to sit in second place. They are two behind leader Chattanooga. Two Rams finished under par and four are inside the top 20.
"The guys played really nice today. Christoph (Bleier) leading the way playing really solid all day tee-to-green going bogey-free," head coach Michael Wilson said. "Rasmus was a big round for use with Davis being off. You would expect him to bounce back tomorrow and Wednesday he's too good not to. Rasmus really turned it around on the back nine after going four-over on the front. Jay Pabin stepped up today which was cool to see after he's faced adversity being in and out of the lineup this year. I am proud of him and his performance. Don't count out Connor Jones either he's just steady Eddy for us."
Sophomore Christoph Bleier shot a bogey-free, 4-under 68 to lead the team. He shot a 2-under, 34 on both sides. The score places him in a tie for first with Chattanooga's John Houk.
Connor Jones was the other CSU golfer to find himself in the red with a 1-under, 71. He had three birdies and a pair of bogeys on the day.
Rasmus Hjelm and Jay Pabin each finished with a 1-over, 73. Hjlem regrouped on the back nine well after making the turn at 4-over. He started his back nine with three straight birdies and shot a 3-under, 33. The duo is tied for 16th.
Colorado State tied with Tennessee, TCU and Indiana with the most pars on the day with 60.
The Rams will tee off round two at 7:00 am MT off the first tee with Chattanooga and Auburn. Live results of the round can be found on GolfStat.
