Colorado State to take on rivalry week with the Buffs in annual home-and-home series
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State Volleyball team will finish out its non-conference schedule this week as the Rams take on the Buffs of Colorado in their annual home-and-home series with the winner claiming the Golden Spike Trophy.

What You Need to Know
- The annual home-and-home series against Colorado will first feature the Rams making the trip to Boulder Thursday before Colorado State hosts the Buffs in Moby Arena Friday for the finale match and last non-conference game of the year for the Rams.
- Since the Golden Spike Trophy was established in 2019, the Rams hold an even 3-3 record with Colorado with the set split also even at 12 all.
- Last season the Rams split the series with the Buffs, first taking a 3-1 win over Colorado in front of Moby Arena's first sellout crowd in Colorado State volleyball history. Game two was a five-set thriller in Boulder that ended in favor of the Buffaloes.
Scouting the Buffs
- Colorado enters its last week of non-conference play at 6-2 with wins over Northern Colorado, Xavier and North Texas. The Buffs' two losses come from UNLV and Kansas, both of them ending in four sets.
- The Buffaloes have only played two games of their entire non-conference slate outside the state of Colorado this season including Thursday's match acting as Colorado's sixth home game already this year.
- An NCAA Tournament team from last season, this year, the Buffs only return three of their seven players who competed in each set during the 2022 season.
- Leading the way on offense for the Buffs so far this season is fifth-year outside hitter Lexi Hadrych. As one of the three main returners from last year's team, Hadrych boasts 78 kills this season at a 3.39 kill per set rate. Colorado's offense is distributed by junior setter Taylor Simpson who averages over 10 assists per set so far this season.

Match Notes
- The Rams went 2-1 last weekend at the Ram Volleyball Classic, taking down Bowling Green and Pacific while falling to No. 14 Baylor.
- Senior Emery Herman recorded over 100 assists over the weekend, averaging 9.82 assists per set. The setter also notched her 3,000th career assist at the Ram Volleyball Classic.
- Redshirt junior Malaya Jones continues to be a consistent offensive threat for the Rams no matter where she finds herself on the court. Exploring new roles in serving and back row play this season, Jones totaled 41 kills at the Ram Volleyball Classic with a handful coming from a powerful back row swing. She also added 15 digs on the weekend.
- As the Rams remain in the top two of Mountain West teams in non-conference hitting percentage, senior Naeemah Weathers finds herself in the top five of Mountain West athletes in hitting efficiency with a percentage of .390 on the season so far. Weathers hit at a .371 clip during the Ram Volleyball Classic with 19 kills and 14 total blocks.
- Libero Kate Yoshimoto totaled 41 digs and 49 serve successful serve receptions during the Ram Volleyball Classic.
