Rams’ Multis to Compete in Golden

Drew Thompson to compete at USATF Indoor Combined Championships

FORT COLLINS – Colorado State will head to Golden, Colorado this weekend to compete in the Mines Winter Classic while Drew Thompson will take on the USATF Indoor Combined Event Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana.
 
What you need to know:
  • The Mines Winter Classic & Multi is hosted by the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, and will take place over the span of two days in the Steinhauer Fieldhouse.
  • Friday's events will start at 10 a.m. with the men's 60-meter dash, long jump, shot put and high jump in the heptathlon.
  • The women will start pentathlon events at 11 a.m. Friday with 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and the 800-meter run. The women will complete their full pentathlon on Friday.
  • Saturday's heptathlon events will pick up with weight throw at 9 a.m., followed by the rest of the men's heptathlon at 10 a.m.

Meet Notes:
  • Drew Thompson currently leads the nation in the men's heptathlon and will be representing Colorado State in Indianapolis, Indiana this weekend at the USA Track and Field Indoor Combined Events Championships.
  • Colorado State women's track and field team is nationally ranked. They sit at No.25 in the first week of the USTFCCCA Rankings.
  • While only the Rams' multis will compete this weekend, last weekend, throwers Mya Lesnar and Michaela Hawkins broke the Prairie Wolf Invite meet record of 19.13 meters in women's weight throw. Lesnar also broke the Fieldhouse record of 20.19 also in weight throw.
  • Hawkins broke her personal record in women's shot put on the second day competing in the Mark Colligan Memorial Invite with a mark of 19.66 meters. She now sits at No. 9 in the Colorado State record book.
  • Cole Nordman saw the podium twice on the first day of their two-day stint in Nebraska. He placed first in the men's 60-meter dash and third in the 60-meter hurdles.
