First Half Deficit Too Much for Rams

11/16/2024 4:31:00 PM | Men's Basketball

Jalen Lake scored 21 points, matching career-high made threes

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – Colorado State battled back in the second half, but the first half deficit was too much to overcome as Ole Miss handed the Rams their first loss of the season 84-69.

Ole Miss could not miss early on and the Rams could not buy a basket. The Rebels used a 21-7 run in the middle of the first half to build its lead. A key for Ole Miss in the first half was crashing the offensive boards. They had seven in the half compared to CSU's 11 on the defensive end.

Trailing 45-26 at the Half, Ole Miss's lead reached 24 early in the second half.

A barrage of 3s drew the Rams back into the game making six in six minutes to cut the deficit to nine points with 8:24 remaining. Jalen Lake led that charge making half of those threes during the stretch.

Lake finished with 21 points, one shy of his career-high, matching his career-best in made 3s with five.

In the end, CSU could not complete the comeback, trading baskets back and forth, until they had to foul late to extend the game.
