How They Qualified Â
After finishing in the top 20 at regionals, both Mitchel and Petr found themselves in a good position to qualify for the championships as individuals. With four individuals selected from teams that failed to qualify from each region, both Mitchel and Petr made it in with their impressive finishes in Reno. Â
Â
Lars MitchelÂ
It has been a season of dominance for Mitchell who finished as the top Ram on the men's side in each his outings, aside from the Mountain West Championships where teammate Michael Mooney claimed the top rank by three seconds. Mitchel, who received Mountain West Men's Cross-Country Athlete of the Week earlier this season, has been a force in the conference all season long, being awarded with all-conference and all-region honors. Â
Â
Anna PetrÂ
Petr put together the best race of her cross-country career thus far at the Mountain Regionals. Even in the brutal weather conditions, Petr mustered a personal best 20:12.04 which led to her punching her ticket to regionals. Like Mitchel, Petr has been dominant on the season finishing as a top two Ram in each of her performances.
