Bailey and Norman shine with first place finishes

COLORADO SPRINGS – After an impressive performance on Friday, Colorado State track and field capped the weekend off with another successful day at the Colorado Springs Pre-Holiday Invite and Multis.

In the women's high jump, junior Tatum Bailey finished first place with a mark of 5-9.25. Fellow Ram and debuting freshmen Annastasia Murphy finished third place in the same event, with sophomore Lizzy Heumann finishing just behind Murphy.

Makayla Long finished first place in the women's shot put with a distance of 51-8.75. The Baylor transfer was the lone Ram competing in the shot put today and showed out with her first first-place finish as a member of the Green and Gold.

Senior Cole Nordman continued his dominant start to the season with a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles at 7.74 seconds. Nordman was named Mountain West Men's Track Athlete of the Week last week for his performance at the Wyoming Power Meet.

The Rams added a clean sweep of the podium in the men's high jump, headlined by junior Timothy Johnson with a height of 6-10. Sophomore Rhys Travis and freshman Ndayiragije Shukurani rounded out the top three with second and third place finishes, respectively.

The Rams have nearly a month off for holiday break and will resume action on Friday, January 10th with a trip down the road to the Potts Invitational in Boulder.
