Lennon Named Player of the Week

Conference honor is first for graduate student
FORT COLLINS – Zara Lennon has been on a roll as of late, and Wednesday her successes were recognized by the Mountain West.

Better than a heart-shaped box of chocolates, the Colorado State graduate student was named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week by the conference based on her contributions in the Rams' 5-2 victory over Missouri. She is the first Ram to be so honored since teammate Radka Buzkova in March of 2022.

The first win for the program against an SEC school but the 15th consecutive victory at home, Lennon posted wins at the No. 2 spot in both doubles and singles as the team improved to 3-1 on the season. At doubles, she and Sarah Weekley reformed their partnership from the winter, posting a 6-2 as Colorado State took the doubles point.

She followed it up with a straight-set victory over Inah Canete, prevailing 6-2, 7 -5. It was the seventh consecutive win for the product of Grand Bay, Mauritius in singles play.

Colorado State will take the first true road trip of the season this weekend when the Rams face BYU (Saturday) and Utah (Sunday), both matches slated for 11 a.m.
