Missouri only SEC school to visit Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS – The only Southeastern Conference tennis team to visit Fort Collins, Missouri is set to do so again Saturday, facing Colorado State's women's team at 12:30 p.m. at the Fort Collins Country Club.

There is a live stream and live scoring available.

The two programs have met three times, with the Rams leading the overall series 2-1. They have not squared off since 2015, when the Tigers swept the Rams in Fort Collins, 7-0. Colorado State won the first two meetings, back in 1994 and 1996. The Tigers are 2-5 on the season in duals, winning a pair of road matches Feb. 3. The Tigers do feature one of the top doubles teams in the country, with Mae Canete and Christine Canete ranked No. 19.

"We are looking forward to hosting Mizzou and it's always great to host a solid team at home.  We will prepare and treat them like every other team we are playing," CSU coach Mai-Ly Tran said. "We'll expect it to be challenging and know that we are capable.  We expect it to be a great match up."

The Rams are 2-1 on the season, having not yet left the state. They are coming off a 6-1 win against Abilene Christian, a match which took place the final week of January.

Since then, Tran and her players have taken the opportunity to polish certain parts of their game, doing so individually and as doubles tandems.

That, and a chance to celebrate one of the program's biggest fans and supporters.

"The week off between matches has been good for us to have time to work on more things we took from our first three matches.  Sometimes it's challenging when you have a quick turnaround, and your main priority is to be mentally and physically ready for the next one," Tran said. "It also gave us a chance to spend some time with the community and celebrate one of our biggest supporters, Evie Hoeven, this past weekend.  We all know how busy it can get during season, so it's given us time to focus on  important building blocks of a team and given us more time to prepare for upcoming matches."
