Rams Finish Day One of Trojan Invitational

Hawkins records second-best women’s discus mark in school history
LOS ANGELES – Kicking off the 2024 outdoor season, the Colorado State track and field competed in day one of the Trojan Invitational hosted by Southern California Friday morning.

Senior thrower Michaela Hawkins recorded the second-best women's discus mark in school history with she won the event with a mark of 61.02 meters. Hawkins' event-winning throw came on her final attempt and is a personal-best. Teammates Gabi Morris and Klaire Kovatch swept the women's discus podium for the Rams, placing second and third with marks of 56.96 meters and 53.31 meters respectively.

Hawkins continued her strong day with a second-place finish in the women's hammer throw thanks to a mark of 53.30 meters. Redshirt-freshman Kajsa Borrman finished close behind in third with a mark of 59.28 meters.

In the men's discus throw, senior Jackson Morris led the Rams to a fourth-place finish with a throw of 54.81 meters. Teammates Mariano Kis and Max Christenberry followed close behind in sixth and seventh respectively.

The Trojan Invitational will continue Saturday beginning with the women's long jump at noon mountain time.
