Colorado State is in second place after the first 18 at the Mountain West Championship

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Colorado State women's golf teed off the 2024 Mountain West Championship on Tuesday in Rancho Mirage, California. Through 18 holes the Rams are one of two teams under par sitting in second place. CSU shot a 2-under 286, sitting six shots behind leader San Jose State.

Three Rams sit in the top 15 led by Andrea Bergsdottir. Bergsdottir, who has not finished outside the top 15 all year, is tied for fourth shooting a 2-under, 70 in the opening round. She was two under through 12 before her only miscue of the day came at the par 4, 13th where she double-bogeyed. The fifth-year rebounded to return to 2-under with her eagle on the par 4 16th.  The score of 70 places her in a tie for fourth, three shots off the lead.

Freshman Kara Kaneshiro is showing no nerves early on in her first Mountain West Championship. She shot an opening 1-under 70 with two birdies and a bogey. She is in a tie for seventh.

The final Ram inside the top 15 is senior Panchalika Arphamongkol with her even par, 72. With a pair of birdies and bogeys on the front nine she strung together 10 straight pars to end her round and be tied for 11th.

Colorado State will tee off with leader San Jose State and third-place UNLV on Wednesday starting at 9:30 a.m. MT. A live stream of the tournament can be found here and live results on GolfStat.
