Panchalika Arphamongkol tied for eighth entering Thursday’s final round
RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – A hot start fizzled over time for Colorado State during the second round of the Mountain West Championship at Misson Hills Country Club. The team shot an 8-over 296 Wednesday to move into fourth place at 6-over for the tournament. The Rams will enter the final round 14 strokes back of leader San Jose State.
Sofia Torres led the charge of the hot start that propelled Colorado State atop the leaderboard early Wednesday morning going eagle, birdie, birdie on holes 2-4 to reach 4-under for her round. Unfortunately, she and the rest of the team could not keep that form.
The lone Ram to shoot par or better was senior Panchalika Arphamongkol with an even-par 72. She made the turn at even with a birdie and bogey before adding another birdie and bogey on the back nine. She will enter Thursday's final round in a tie for eighth at even overall.
Andrea Bergsdottir and Kara Kaneshiro shot 3-over 75s but remain in the top 15. Bergsdottir is tied for 12th at 1-over and Kaneshiro a stroke back tying her for 14th.
Colorado State aims to move up the leaderboard and catch 36-hole leader San Jose State on Thursday when they tee off starting at 8:45 a.m. MT. A live stream of the tournament can be found here and live results on GolfStat.
