Hjelm Goes Under Par in Round 1

Colorado State tied for fifth at the Rober Kepler Intercollegiate
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Rasmus Hjelm went under par to help Colorado State sit in a tie for fifth place after the first round of the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. Hjelm was one of only nine players in the field of 99 to go under par at the Scarlet Course at Ohio State.
He shot his fifth par or better round with with four birdies and three bogeys. The bogeys came on his first three holes, but he never detoured from his approach. The Swede went bogey-free with four birdies over the final 15 holes. He is three strokes behind the leaders entering Saturday's second round.
Connor Jones is tied for 14th following his 1-over 72. He was one under at the turn with a 35 including three birdies over his final five holes.
Matthew Wilkinson is the only other Ram in the top 25 with his 2-over 73 on Friday. He is tied for 24th.
Colorado State and Maryland shot an 8-over 292 to be tied for fifth entering the second round. They are five strokes back of leader Kent State.
The Rams will again play with Kent State and Indiana tomorrow teeing off the 10th tee starting at 6:50 a.m. MT. Live results of the round can be found on GolfStat.
