CRESWELL, Ore. – It was a rainy and damp first round at the Mountain West Championship on Friday at the Emerald Valley Golf Club. Colorado State handled the conditions shooting a 4-under 284 to sit in second place. All five Rams are inside the top 20.

Sophomore Matthew Wilkinson led the way for CSU shooting a 2-under 70. He shot a 2-under 34 on the front nine with a trio of birdies before adding two more on the back nine. Over his final nine, he was even to end up tied for seventh.

The final two Rams in Connor Jones and Rasmus Hjlem shot an even-par 72 in round one. Jones had a bogey-free round going until back-to-back on the 14th and 15th hole but rebounded with a birdie on the par 3 17th. Hjelm ended his day with a birdie.
