Three More Rams Punch Tickets to Nationals on Final Day of West Regional

Michaela Hawkins, Yasmin Austridge and Gabi Morris all clinch nationals qualification
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Colorado State track and field team had seven Rams compete in the final day of the 2024 Outdoor NCAA West Regional. Saturday saw three Rams punch their tickets to the NCAA National Championship meet in Eugene, Oregon June 5-8 including Michaela Hawkins, Yasmin Austridge and Gabi Morris qualifying in her second event.

The day began in the women's discus, where two Rams solidified their spot in the national championship meet first with Michaela Hawkins qualifying fourth with a throw of 58.46 meters, followed by Gabi Morris qualifying seventh with a season best throw of 57.87 meters. This is Morris' second event that she will represent the Rams in at the national championship meet, qualifying for the finals of the women's shot put Thursday.

Teammate Klaire Kovach rounded out the three women's discus throwers for Colorado State, finishing 25th with a best mark of 53.86 meters.

On the track, graduate transfer Yasmin Austridge qualified fifth in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:05.45, punching her ticket to the NCAA National Championship meet in the first year of her Ram career.

Teammate Emily Chaston closed out her Ram career in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase, finishing 30th with a time of 10:46.17.

Back to field events, sophomore Jo-Anna Pinnock finished 22nd in the women's triple jump with a mark of 13.01 meters on the day. Pinnock will enter her junior year as a Ram next season as the current school record holder in the women's triple jump.

Finishing the day on the track, senior Sarah Carter competed in the woman's 5000 meter run, her second race of this NCAA West Regional. Carter finished 35th with a time of 16:57.84. Carter will continue her season at the NCAA National championship meet, competing in the women's 10K in which she qualified for on Thursday.

The Rams exit the NCAA West Regional with seven total qualifiers for the NCAA Championship meet, which will take place June 5-8 in Eugene, Oregon. Qualifiers include Mariano Kis in the men's shot put, Gabi Morris in both the women's shot put and discus, Mya Lesnar in the women's shot put, Sarah Carter in the women's 10K, Michaela Hawkins in the women's discus and Yasmin Austridge in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase.
