What You Need to Know
  • Friday's game against Florida will serve as Colorado State's annual White Out game where fans are encouraged to White Out Moby Arena and pack the building for the first game of the season. Thanks to Bank of Colorado, 2,500 free t-shirts will be handed out to students in attendance as the Rams prepare for the first night of Moby Madness this season.
  • The Rams return all four All-Mountain West players from the 2023 season, including Emery Herman, Kennedy Stanford, Naeemah Weathers and Malaya Jones.
  • Last weekend, the Rams hosted No. 12 Creighton in an exhibition match at Moby Arena. The opportunity to play a top 15 team in the AVCA rankings allowed for the Rams to help prepare for their season opener against No. 11 Florida this upcoming Friday. With the ability to play a pre-season exhibition match, Kohan was able to test multiple different lineups and rotations ahead of opening weekend. More than 3,500 fans packed Moby Arena for the exhibition with the excitement for the season in full gear.

Scouting Opening Weekend
  • Both opening weekend opponents for the Rams are coming off winning seasons with Florida ending the 2023 season with an overall record of 19-10 while Michigan State ended its season with an overall record of 17-14. The Gators have two players, Alexis Stucky and Kennedy Martin, who have been named to the 2024 Preseason All-Sec Team. Last year Stucky faced a season-ending ACL/MCL injury and it is unclear where she is at in her recovery process. Before her injury she had many accolades and was a strong asset to the Gator roster.
  • The Gators, coached by Mary Wise, who enters her 34th season at the helm, begin the 2024 season as the No. 11 team in the country after finishing at No. 19 in the AVCA rankings at the end of last season. For the second consecutive season, the Gators earned the No. 2 ranking in the SEC preseason coaches' poll. Colorado State will be the Gators' 2024 opening game after playing Georgia Southern in an exhibition game last weekend.
  • The Spartans and coach Leah Johnson travel to Fort Collins for their first time facing the Rams in program history. This will be Johnson's third season leading the Spartans, hoping to continue building the women's volleyball program. With the additions of USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington to the Big Ten, the Spartans are looking to returners Taylor Preston and Evie Doezema to lead their team to a successful season. Additionally, they had a big transfer-portal year and have welcomed outside hitters Taylor Preston from Oklahoma, Akasha Anderson from Auburn and Danyle Courtley from Rice.

Match Notes
  • Going into the 2024 season, the Rams welcome six new members to their team with five freshmen, Brooke Holman, Jessica Lawton, Jordyn Tynsky, Erin Debiec and Maria Brun. Additionally, Kohan announced incoming transfer, Aine Doty from Idaho with two years of eligibility.
  • Middle blocker Naeemah Weathers recorded 232 kills at a .426 hitting percentage, good for second all-time in a single season at CSU and seventh in the country in the 2023 season. As the 2024 season begins, she is continuing to progress and looking to break long-standing records.
  • Other key returners for the Rams include Malaya Jones who set the single-season kills record at CSU last season with 466; Emery Herman, who was named the 2023 Mountain West Newcomer of the Year averaging 10.39 assists per set last season; and fifth-year starter Kennedy Stanford, who returns her stoic leadership to the Rams on the outside.
