Resilience, Toughness Lead Rams to Road Win

Colorado State has won eight of its last 10 games
FRESNO, Calif. – Resilience. The word to summarize the week for Colorado State men's basketball. The Rams showed their reliance once again defeating Fresno State 69-64 on the road Saturday evening.
Â
CSU jumped out to the early lead and controlled the majority of the first half, leading by as much as nine. The Bulldogs turned to a 2-3 zone defense near the end of it to close the gap as the Rams led 33-31 at the break.
Â
The second half was a see-saw battle featuring four ties and six lead changes. Fresno State held a five-point lead with 5 minutes left, but the Rams closed the game on a 12-2 run.
Â
Multiple players stepped up in the closing moments for the Rams on both ends of the court. First it was Nique Clifford who scored 24 points in the game bringing the team back. Then it was Kyan Evans connecting on the go-ahead 3-pointer with 52 seconds left, similar to the dagger 3 he made at Nevada earlier this season.
Â
Still needing a stop, it was Jaylen Crocker-Johnson who came up with the final key play blocking Alex Crawford on his drive to the basket and having it hit off him giving CSU the ball to put the game away at the free throw line.
Â
The win moves Colorado State to 13-7 overall and 7-2 in Mountain West play.
