Lee paces Rams’ four entrants on 1-meter
AIR FORCE ACADEMY  – Opening up a three-day event, Colorado State's divers came a tad short of some goals but walked away feeling some progress was made in some areas.
Â
The four Rams competed on the 1-meter springboard Thursday at the Air Force Diving Invitational, with freshman Riley Lee one spot away from advancing to the finals as a 40-competitor field was cut down to 12.
Â
Lee scored 234.05 to finish 13th, with Maggie Di Scipio sitting 18th with her 223.80. Makenna Post finished at 192.95, with Noelle Tobin closing at 188.0.
Â
"Riley Lee was very consistent with her six dives. In a competition that's super competitive, consistency is paramount," CSU diving coach Chris Bergere said. "This is the kind of performance that will help Riley grow and mature as a collegiate diver. I was very pleased with her performance, and so was she.
Â
"Maggie Di Scipio was also very consistent with her dives. Maggie is usually a little sharper in some of her dives, but she didn't miss anything terribly. When the scoring is so close, every point matters. Maggie is right there in her training and last week at UNC she was sharp. It's within Maggie to dive better and be a little sharp."
Â
The Rams will move to the 3-meter springboard on Friday, with the preliminaries beginning at 10:30 a.m. There will be a live stream of the event. The competition closes Sunday with the platform, starting at 9:30 a.m.
