Rams Head North for Border War Battle with the Cowgirls

10/29/2025 3:00:00 PM | Women's Swimming & Diving

Heading into rivalry with determination and focus

The energy is high, and the stakes are even higher as the two programs collied once again in the annual rivalry meet.

Colorado State's women's swimming and diving team will travel to Laramie, Wyo., to face longtime foe Wyoming on Oct. 31, at 4 p.m.

The Rams will head into this meet with confidence and composure after weeks of training under their belt. Against this familiar opponent, the Rams are ready to showcase their hard work, discipline, and competitive edge against the Cowgirls. The team is 2-0 in duals this season, coming off a sweep of Denver and Colorado Mesa on Oct. 24. CSU leads the overall series 43-17 but enter the road tilt looking to reverse a trend, having dropped the past two duals with Wyoming.

Following a strong showing in earlier competitions, the Rams enter the meet with momentum and confidence. Coach Christopher Woodward expressed pride in his team's early progress and resilience. He highlighted how strategy, execution, and discipline are key elements for building success.

"We saw our athletes come out early and show great racing skills at Front Range, and in our first head-to-head meet, we showed the ability to take a punch and counter back," Woodward said. "They're in a good space, race-strategy wise, and ready to compete."

Known as the most spirited matchup on the schedule, this meet will bring out the best from both teams. With the meet being held over 7,000 feet of elevation, the Rams are preparing for the physical and metal challenges to come with competing at altitude.

"The teams that train at higher elevations know it's an advantage," Woodward said. "For us, it's about the mindset. We've been working on breath control, turns, and underwater kick counts to make sure we stay disciplined when the air gets thin."

With preparation, consistency, and team chemistry driving their approach, Colorado State looks to deliver another strong performance in the lanes. The meet will serve as both a test of endurance and a statement of growth and resilience.
