NOTING THE GAME
- Rams Protect The Rock: The Rams do a lot of good things, but one of their secrets to success is actually something they DON'T do: Turn the ball over. The Rams have led the nation in fewest turnovers per game each of the past four seasons, coughing it up just 8.7 times per game in 2024-25 which was the only mark below 10.5 in the country. Over the past decade of NCAA DI women's college basketball, only two programs have averaged less than nine turnovers a game across a season: Villanova (2014-15, 2015-16), and Colorado State (2022-23, 2024-25). So far so good to start the 2025-26 campaign as the Rams are averaging just 8.5 giveaways through two games, top-10 nationally.
- Announcing Her Arrival: Lexus Bargesser transferred to Colorado State from Indiana over the summer and wasted no time introducing herself to Ram Country. The 5-foot-9 guard dropped a career-high 22 points in the season opener against Weber State and led CSU in scoring (19.5 points per game) across the opening week of the season while shooting 58.6%.
- Dynamic Duo: Colorado State fans fell in love with the thrilling pair of Illinois freshmen Brooke Carlson and Kloe Froebe last season, and for good reason. The self-proclaimed best friends became the third-highest freshmen scoring duo in program history, putting themselves in pretty elite company. The Illinoisans combined for 521 total points, trailing program legends Becky Hammon & Katie Cronin (947 points, 1995-96) and Ellen Nystrom & Elin Gustavsson (643 points, 2013-14).
- 20-Or-More: Colorado State has been a model of consistency under head coach Ryun Williams as the Rams have won 20-or-more games in each of the past four seasons. Throughout Williams' 13 seasons at the helm of the program, CSU has won at least 20 games in nine of those years.
- One Last Ride: The 2025-26 campaign marks the final in the Mountain West for Colorado State as the Rams announced they will be leaving the league to join the Pac-12 beginning in the summer of 2026. Colorado State was a founding member of the MW in 1999 and have won seven conference titles (tournament and regular season) since. The Rams are looking to establish themselves as the Leaders of the Pac after going 9-1 against future conference foes throughout the 2024-25 season. Thursday's contest against Gonzaga will be the first of eight scheduled matchups against future Pac-12 opponents.
- Loyal Rams: In an age of college athletics where playing at multiple schools has become the norm, Marta Leimane and Hannah Ronsiek have shown that sometimes it's best to plant your roots and grow. The pair of fourth-year seniors have combined to play in 171 games with 101 starts over their three seasons in the Green and Gold, helping the Rams to three-consecutive 20-win campaigns. Entering their final season of eligibility, the duo are set on winning their first conference championship together.
