Rams controls key moments to clinch spot in Mountain West Tournament

SAN DIEGO – Colorado State battled through a competitive, back-and-forth match up to top San Diego State, kicking off the final road trip of the 2025 regular season with a strong win.
 
Colorado State (3) –San Diego State (1) – (25-20, 25-23, 24-26, 25-18)
  • Colorado State battled back from an early five-point deficit in the first set, using a mid-set serving run and a strong offensive push from Eve Wilson and Kekua Richards, who each totaled five kills in the first frame en route to a 25-20 opening set victory.
  • The Rams controlled the second set from start to finish with only two lead changes, but a strong side-out rate helped the Rams hold off the Aztecs surge to take 2-0 set advantage with a 25-23 win in the second frame.
  • In the third set, the Colorado State block pushed the Aztecs to the brink of a sweep. Totaling seven team blocks overall, a late San Diego State run pushed the set to deuce points with the Aztecs narrowly holding off the Rams take the frame 26-24.
  • Colorado State sealed the match with a 25-18 win in set four, led by another standout frame from Wilson, who delivered four kills in the fourth set alone to cap off her team-leading 15 kill night hitting .452.
  • Richards and Maria Brun also delivered double-digit kill nights for the Rams as CSU hit .294 overall as a team. Richards also finished the night one block off from a double-double with nine.
  • Setter Erin Debiec totaled 39 assists while Halle Jameson and Aine Doty recorded double-digit dig numbers for the Rams defense
Up Next: Colorado State continues its road trip with a match up in Las Vegas, Nevada against the UNLV Rebels Saturday at 1 p.m. mountain time.
