Wyoming Power Meet once again serves as a launching point.
LARAMIE – Colorado State track and field made its first appearance of the year on Saturday, December 6th at the Wyoming Power Meet in Laramie, Wyo. The Rams brought a slew of athletes, several of which ended as the top finisher while others set personal bests. Â
Â
Wyoming Power Meet (Laramie, Wyo.)Â Â
- Kyle Bigley came out of the weight throw gates swinging, recording a personal best 21.01-meters/68-11.25 feet and moving to fourth all-time in the Colorado State all-time record book. Bigley finished third in the contest behind a former national champion and the current NCAA leader in the event. Following him was teammate Adam Hellbom who also set a personal record at 20.58/67-6.25, moving him to fifth in the all-time ranks.Â
- On the women's side of the event it was a podium sweep, with Kajsa Borrman on top then Klaire Kovatch and Makayla Long following. The shot put ended in a similar fashion, however this time it was Long leading the charge at 16.23/53-3, second place went to Kovatch at a personal best 14.79/48-6.25, then junior Erin Brown in third place completing the sweep. Â
- In the pole-vault, it was freshman Taylor Waters who stole the show. The Colorado native finished in a tie for first at 5.03/16-6, immediately inserting himself into eighth place in the all-time record book.Â
- The men's long jump saw the highflying trio of Jamison Taylor, Ishmael Dembele and Ndayiragije Shukurani take the stage. Taylor led the way with a personal best and massive 7.47/26-6.25 to finish just shy of first place; the jump catapulted Taylor all the way into a tie for second best in school history. Dembele and Shukurani followed in second and third place, respectively.Â
- The 55-meters saw freshman Alora Totorelli Cruz cruise to a victory in her debut. The 7.07 second run ends the day in a tie for 10th in school history. Neya Jamison also set a personal record in the event at 7.11, placing her in 12th all time. Â
- The men's side of the 55 also saw records be tested as senior Tyler Colwell tied Cole Nordman's record in the event (6.17). Nordman set the record last year at the Wyoming Power Meet and now sits in tandem with his former teammate.Â
- Jamison wasn't done with her day, as she also earned a first-place finish and personal best in the 55 hurdles at 8.02, the third best run in school history. Following her was teammate Anabella Palillian who recorded a personal best 8.12. The men's side had a similar result as freshman Owen Langdon recorded a blistering 7.29 to also move into third place all time.Â
Â
Looking Ahead Â
- The Rams head down to Colorado Springs for the UCCS Pre-Holiday Invite and Multis (Dec. 12-13). The event has been a mainstay on Colorado State's schedule and lies as the final event before a month break. Â
