Borrman Claims Gold on Day Two

Both Ram squads lead after second day of MW Indoor T&F Championships.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Colorado State men's and women's teams were each the top points earners on Day Two of the 2025 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque on Friday.

Both teams finished the day atop the standings, with the women's squad pushing its total to 58.5 points and the men's side tallying 46. Both sides will carry the lead into tomorrow's finale with plenty of points still on the table.

The highlight of the day was Kajsa Borrman's performance in the women's weight throw as she went toe-to-toe with defending conference champion and fellow Ram, Mya Lesnar. Borrman, who entered the meet having posted a career-best in each of her last three outings, pushed the envelope once again and set a career mark with a 21.67-meter/71-feet-1.25 throw to win the first gold medal of the meet for Colorado State.

Lesnar was spectacular in her own right, finishing runner-up with a mark of 21.32/69-11.5 in her first weight-throw competition of the season. Two other Rams picked up points in the event as Klaire Kovatch (18.84/61-9.75) and Makayla Long (18.56/60-10.75) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Tatum Bailey put together her best performance in the high jump of the season, matching her career-best height of 1.77/5-9.75 to earn a silver medal in the event. Maria Kimpson (4.01/13-1.75) and Emily Adams (3.76/12-4) finished third and sixth, respectively, in the women's pole vault to collect points, while Jo-Anna Pinnock picked up two additional points in the long jump.

The men's heptathlon opened the second day of action and produced some quality points for the Rams. Elijah Scott recorded a career-best 5,540 – the sixth-best score in program history –  to finish runner-up in the event and collect eight points for his team. Mateo Munoz (5,308, fifth) and Cameron Collins (4,883, seventh) each recorded career highs, while Zach Sell (3,968, eighth) joined them in scoring points in the event, giving CSU a total of 15 from the heptathlon.

In a competitive field in the men's weight throw, three Rams were able to produce points. Kyle Bigley saw the podium with a third place finish, throwing a career-best 20.53/67-4.25. Adam Hellbom (19.54/64-1.25) and Leonardo Ramos-Valles (19.25/63-2) also went big with career records, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively, to notch points for their squad.

Colorado State also did its share of flexing in the preliminary heats of Friday's track events as several Rams on both sides advanced to tomorrow's finals. On the men's side, three Rams saw their way through in the 400 led by Travis Turner who ran a 47.68, a career best and the fifth-best time in program history. In the 200, Tyler Colwell improved his top time and tied the second-best mark in CSU history with a 20.97 to advance to Saturday's finals.

An impressive four Rams moved on in the 60 hurdles, including the top two finishers Cole Nordman and Dominic Gallelli, with the latter clocking a career-best 8.11. Colwell was at it again in the 60 dash, running a 6.73 to lead a group of three Colorado State athletes to the final in the event.

For the Ram women, Anna Petr saw her way through to the final in the mile, while Kaylyn Heath impressed with a 7.46 to advance in the 60 dash.

Saturday's action begins at 9:30 a.m. with the men's high jump. Fans can tune into the Mountain West Network to watch the Rams on their quest to defend their titles.
