Multiple top-10 program marks posted on Thursday

FORT COLLINS – Colorado State track and field competed at two separate meets in California on Thursday, taking on both the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Pacific Coast Invitational.

Pacific Coast Invitational (Long Beach, Calif.)
  • Ismael Dembele and Jamison Taylor were at it once again in the men's triple jump as the pair of Rams took the top two spots in the event. Dembele led the way with a personal best mark of 15.47 meters/50-feet-9.25, which stands as the second-best in the Colorado State record book. Taylor was not too far behind as he jumped 15.25/50-0.5, becoming just the fifth athlete in CSU history to reach 50 feet in the triple jump.
  • Mya Lesnar made her outdoor season debut on Thursday, competing in both the hammer throw and the shot put. Lesnar took home the top spot in the shot put event, throwing 18.16/59-7 which would have been a top-three mark in the country entering the week. In the hammer throw, Lesnar threw a 62.74/205-10 to finish fifth and establish herself among the top 30 in the nation this season.
  • Klaire Kovatch put together a shining performance in the women's discus, throwing 57.42/188-4 to finish second while being the top finisher among collegiate competitors. Kovatch shattered her career best and moved to No. 7 on CSU's all-time leaderboard.
  • Makayla Long turned in a solid outing on the day by recording a pair of top-10 finishes. In the women's shot put, Long threw 15.95/52-4 to finish in fourth place, while in the hammer throw she recorded a distance of 51.19/167-11 to finish sixth.
  • Adam Hellbom finished sixth in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 62.31/204-5, a throw just short of his personal best 205-2 which ranks inside CSU's top-10 all time.
  • Timothy Johnson and Rhys Travis had a solid showing in the men's high jump as the pair tied for third, each jumping 2.02/6-7.5

Bryan Clay Invitational (Azusa, Calif.)
  • In the men's 5,000 meter, Michael Mooney ran a 13:37.55 to improve upon his personal best that already ranked top five in program history. Mooney's top time puts him in fourth place in CSU history, just over six seconds away from the program mark.
  • Brooklyn Ewert ran an outdoor personal best in the women's 800, clocking a 2:11.56 to place her among CSU's top-15 all time in the event. Freshman Jaycee Williams also competed in the 800, shaving down her career mark to 2:12.92 which is 20th in program history.
  • Kenya Dennee clocked a personal-best 16:31.59 in the women's 5k, finishing fourth in the Open A Heat 2. The time places her inside the top 20, making her one of three current Rams on the list (Anna Petr seventh, Kensey May 19th).
