Rams Load Up for Last Regular Season Road Trip

FORT COLLINS – Colorado State track and field makes its final regular season road trip of the year as it journeys to California for a trio of meets this week.

MEET NOTES

Mya Lesnar looks to make her outdoor season debut in Long Beach at the Pacific Coast Invitational. Lesnar finished fourth in the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Championships earlier this year, and fifth at the outdoor championships last season.
Joining Lesnar in Long Beach is Kajsa Borrman, who achieved the second-best hammer throw in school history last week at the Mines Kit Mayer (67.27-meters/220-feet-8). Borrman sits at sixth in the nation in the hammer throw and top 50 in the discus toss.
Many Rams are looking to move into the top 48 nationally in their respective events, the number that serves as the cutoff for regionals. The runners close to qualification include Tyler Colwell in the 100 meter dash, and freshman standout Travis Turner in the 400. Both sit just outside the top 100. For long distance, two Rams are looking to qualify in the 5,000 including Michael Mooney who sits at 54th in the country and Anna Petr in 71st. Neya Jamison ranks just one spot away from the qualifying threshold currently sitting at 49th in the 400 hurdles.
Other throwers in the mix for regionals include Makayla Long who ranks 27th in the country for shot put, 60th in discus and 71st in the hammer throw. Another Ram well within the top 48 is Klaire Kovatch, sitting at 26th in the discus. On the men's side Adam Hellbom sits at 71st in the hammer throw, while a collection of other Rams sit inside the top 120 in the shot put, hammer throw and javelin throw.
Junior Ismael Dembele currently sits in the qualifying range for both the triple jump and long jump, ranking 14th and 34th, respectively. Also making a run in the TJ is Jamison Taylor who is just outside the top 50. Timothy Johnson, Rhys Travis and Ndayiragije Shukurani all sit in the top 100 high jumpers in the country, sharing the same mark of 6-9.75.
