MEET NOTES
  • The weekly EventSquad rankings from the USTFCCCA were released on Tuesday, with the Rams well established in several events across the board. The men's side ranks second in the triple jump, while also holding top-10 marks in the high jump (eighth) and hammer throw (eighth). The women's side saw three events rank inside the top eight, with shot put (third) leading the way followed by hammer (fifth) and discus (seventh).
  • The Rams have dominated women's throwing events this season and currently hold two of the top three spots in three separate events: Shot put (Mya Lesnar first, Makayla Long third), hammer (Kajsa Borrman first, Lesnar third), and discus (Klaire Kovatch second, Borrman third). The "Bomb Squad" combined to score 51 of CSU's 98.50 points at the conference indoor championships and will look to bring in another haul of points this week. Lesnar is seeking a fourth-straight conference championship in the shot put, while Borrman looks to capitalize on her gold in the indoor weight throw with a good showing in the hammer.
  • The Ram men boast one of the best triple jump groups in the nation, as illustrated by its No. 2 ranking in the USTFCCCA EventSquad list. Jamison Taylor (first), Ismael Dembele (second) and Ndayiragije Shukurani (fourth) are each among the four MW athletes to reach the 50-foot mark this season. The group will look to repeat their performances from the indoor championships in which Dembele claimed the gold and the group combined for 22 points.
  • Timothy Johnson returns to the MW Outdoor Championships after claiming the top mark in the high jump at the indoor championships. Johnson won gold on his final jump of the indoor season and now leads the "Flight Crew" – which racked up 23 points from high jump back in March – back to the conference meet. Accompanying him are five of the top 10 high jumpers in the league, headlined by freshman Shukurani who jumped a remarkable 2.14-meters/7-feet-0.25 at the Doug Max Invitational. Joining them is Rhys Travis, who finished third at last year's MW outdoor championships, as well as Taylor and Elijah Scott.
  • Maria Kimpson saw the podium in the pole vault at the indoor championships in March, finishing third with a mark of 4.01/13-1.75. Kimpson – who holds CSU's indoor and outdoor records in the event – posted the best outdoor mark in the MW by a good margin as her 4.30/14-1.25 performance at the Beach Invite is nearly one foot higher than the next closest conference competitor.
  • Colorado State's men's hurdles crew delivered a memorable outing at the indoor conference championships, sweeping the podium on the final day of competition. The Rams are poised to collect quality points in the 110 and 400 hurdles, with three ranked inside the conference's top eight of each event.
  • Multi-athlete Tereza Babicka enters the weekend as the woman-to-beat in the heptathlon as her top regular season score of 5,203 from the Bryan Clay Multis (April 10) is No. 1 in the league standings. The 2025 indoor-pentathlon runner-up has her eyes set on a first-career conference gold medal.
