MEET NOTESÂ
- 20 Colorado State seniors will be celebrated Saturday for their contributions to the track and field program: Tatum Bailey, Jack Cauble, Will Chiang, Cameron Collins, Kyle Dempsey, Dominic Gallelli, Abigail Groleau, Eldridge Harris, Kaylyn Heath, Timothy Johnson, Cory Kennedy, Mya Lesnar, Michael Mooney, Cole Nordman, Anna Petr, Isabella Prosceno, Ellie Sanders, Elijah Scott, Jaden Theis and Trinity Wells.
- Colorado State and Mountain West record holder in the shot-put, Mya Lesnar, will make her final attempt at the facility record for Jack Christiansen Track. The record of 18.10-meters/59-feet-4.0 is currently held by Khayla Dawson and is within Lesnar's outdoor personal best of 19.08/62-7.25.
- Once again, the Colorado State track and field team will be honoring former student athlete Colton Kaase by naming the 400 hurdle event after him. Kaase was a hurdler for the Rams who tragically passed after an offseason workout, but his memory has been lived on through the Colton Kaase Memorial Summer Scholars fund which provides real, meaningful, and hands-on internships to student-athletes. Donations directly support student-athletes.
- Many Rams are ranked within the West Region's top 48, the qualifying threshold for the first round of the NCAA regionals. The women's side includes: Neya Jamison (400H), Maria Kimpson (PV), Lesnar (SP, HT), Makayla Long (SP, DT, HT), Kajsa Borrman (HT, DT), Klaire Kovatch (DT) and Tereza Babicka (Hep), all sitting well within their qualifying threshold. Â
- The men's side sees: Tyler Colwell (100), Cameron Kalaf (JT), Mooney (5,000), Rhys Travis (HJ), Timothy Johnson (HJ), Ndayiragije Shukurani (HJ), Ismael Dembele (LJ, TJ), Jamison Taylor (TJ), Kyle Bigley (SP), Adam Hellbom (HT), Leonardo Ramos (HT) and the 4x100 relay team. Â
- Some names to watch this weekend sitting on the bubble include freshman Travis Tuner who sits 65th in the 400-meter, Cole Nordman who ranks 61st in the 110H, Jack Wetterling at 63rd in the 400H, Kalaf at 57th in the hammer, and Daniel Baroumbaye and Ramos at 62nd and 65th in the shot put, respectively.Â
- The women's side brings more bubble contenders with Petr who ranks 71st in the 5,000, Allison Pippert who is 54th in the 3,000-steeplechase, and Annastasia Murphy who sits 70th in the high jump.Â
- Another name to watch is freshman Justin Bate. Bate, who had a quiet indoor campaign, made waves last Saturday setting a personal best 4.95/16-2.75 to leap into 11th place in the Colorado State record book. Bate will need at least a mark of 5.10 to qualify for regionals but could be a name to watch this weekend and at the MW Outdoor Championships.
