Colorado State battled back, but unable to overcome a poor first half
FRESNO, Calif. – Colorado State showed fight, battling back from a 14-point halftime deficit, but was unable to keep control of the momentum, falling to Fresno State 79-69, Tuesday night.
How It Happened
Brandon Rechsteiner started hot for the Rams, scoring 10 points in the first five and a half minutes. The Rams went cold after that, making two of their next 15 shots as Fresno State took control of the game with an 8-0 run.
A late 5-0 run in the half from the Bulldogs put them up double digits as they held a 14-point lead after 20 minutes. CSU shot 31.0% in the first half.
Colorado State came out with an edge and attacked to open the second half. The Rams used an early 17-2 run to tie the game at 41 with 13:39 left.
Fresno State responded as it looked like the Rams had gained momentum with a 7-0 run of its own. That run was enough separation down the stretch as CSU could not find the early second half spark again and the Bulldogs pulled away.
