Field Events Bring the Energy on Day One of Colorado Invite

Both men and women sweep weight throw podiums
BOULDER – Colorado State track and field returned to Boulder this Friday for the Colorado Invite. Multis, pole vault and throws got the weekend started with runners and jumpers ready to lead the charge on Saturday. Â

Colorado Invite Â
- In the weight throw Bigley set the tone, finishing first at 20.68/67-10. The Rams swept the podium in the event, with Adam Hellbom and Cameron Kalaf finishing second and third, respectively. Kalaf set a personal best for the second week in a row, on his first attempt of 19.30/63-4. The men's shot put started the day where Kyle Bigley led the Rams finishing second with a mark of 17.49-meters/57-feet-4.75. Finishing third was Alex Jensen at 15.96/52-4.5. Â
- The women's side started in the weight throw where CSU swept the podium once again. This included Kajsa Borrman in first (20.89/68-6), Makayla Long in second (18.03/59-2) and Klaire Kovatch third (17.76/58-3). The shot put was similar, with the top four spots captured by the Green and Gold. Long finished first followed by Kovatch, Erin Brown and Borrman, respectively.  Â
- In the men's pole vault, Taylor Waters was impressive again, finishing second place at 5.15/16-10.75. Â

Looking AheadÂ
- Saturday features a slew of jumpers competing in Colorado Springs for the UCCS Invite, while the runners return to Boulder to finish off the Colorado Invite.Â
