Colorado State men’s basketball returns to Moby for first time in 2026
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State men's basketball returns to Moby Arena for the first time in 2026 when they host New Mexico on Tuesday, January 6 at 7 p.m.
Opening TIp
- Colorado State picked up its first conference win of the season on Saturday defeating Grand Canyon 70-60 in Phoenix.
- The Rams opened the second half outscoring GCU 21-2 in the first eight minutes to pull away. It included stretch of holding the Lopes without a basket for six and a half minutes.
- Carey Booth picked up his fourth double-double of the year with a team-leading 19 points and 12 rebounds. He finished both a point and rebound shy of his career-highs.
- Auggie Kiudulas scored a CSU-career-high 15 points, draining a couple of 3s while grabbing a pair of rebounds and two assists.
- Brandon Rechsteiner and Jevin Muniz added in 14 points a piece.
- Rechsteiner also led the team with four assists.
- Muniz added six rebounds, three steals and two assists to his stat sheet along side the 14 points.
- The Rams outrebounded GCU 39-29. The Lopes entered the game grabbing 37.3 per game.
- CSU ranks 68th in the nation and second in the Mountain West in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.50.
- The Rams 16.9 assists per game are the third best in the Mountain West and 64th in the nation.
- Colorado State is assisting on 62.8% of its made field goals on the year, the 21st best mark in the nation.
- The Rams are one of 11 programs in the nation shooting over 50.0% overall, 35.0% from behind the arc and 75.0% from the free throw line. They rank 18th, 14th and fifth in the respective categories.
- Colorado State has a pair of Mountain West Players of the Week so far this season in Kyle Jorgensen and Josh Pascarelli.
- Jorgensen's performance over the first week earned him Mountain West Player of the Week honors. The sophomore averaged 20.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steal in the first two games of the season.
- Pascarelli earned his honor after his performance against Colorado (12/6/25). The junior scored 26 points connecting on eight 3-pointers for the second straight game.
- CSU earned a second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2024-25 and third in four years.
- Colorado State's 26 wins in 2024-25 tied for the second most in program history. They finished one win behind the record of 27 set by the 2014-15 team.
- The Rams welcomed the best transfer portal class in the Mountain West in 2025 ranking 61st in the nation.
- Colorado State has the longest active streak of having a player on the first team All-Mountain West list at seven years. Nico Carvacho (2019-20), David Roddy (2021-22), Isaiah Stevens (2023-24) and Nique Clifford (2025).
- Nique Clifford became the fourth player in program history to be picked in the first round of the NBA Draft in June. Clifford was the 24th pick overall by Oklahoma City with his rights traded to Sacramento.
- Clifford had one of the best seasons in program history his final year. He earned AP All-America honorable mention, was the MVP for the Mountain West Tournament and helped the program earn its first Mountain West title since 2003 by winning the Mountain West Tournament.
Scouting Lobos
New Mexico is led by first-year head coach Eric Olen who came to Albuquerque from UC San Diego where he took the program from a DII power house to competing in the NCAA Tournament in 2025 season. It was the first season UCSD was eligible to compete in the tournament.
His 2025-26 Lobos are 11-3 entering Tuesday's game coming off a 20-point win against Wyoming at home Saturday.
UNM has a balanced attack with five guys averaging 10.0 or more points. Jake Hall leads the team with 13.2 points per game and he likes to shoot the 3 with 101 attempts this season, making 37.6% of them.
Hall's outside shooting is balanced inside by Tomislave Buljian on the inside and his 12.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. He has increased his numbers to 20.5 and 11.0 early in Mountain West play.
What's Ahead
Colorado State stays home to host UNLV on Friday, January 9 at 8 pm. It is the team's State Pride game. The game is the final in Colorado State's Student Rush program for the 2025-26 season. The program allows any students (elementary-college) to attend the game for free when they present their student ID to the ticket office on game day.
