FORT COLLINS – Colorado State women's basketball carries a 4-0 Mountain West record into tough conference matchups against New Mexico and Boise State this week.

The Rams host the Lobos for State Pride night on Wednesday (Jan. 7) before hitting the road to take on the Broncos on Saturday (Jan. 10). CSU is one of three teams with a perfect record in MW play, with San Diego State and UNLV also sporting 4-0 records entering the week. NOTING THE GAME

Defensive Stalwarts: Colorado State's defense has been elite this season, giving up an average of just 54.1 points per game which is among the top 25 in the country. The Rams have held 11-of-15 opponents to 60-or-fewer points, with seven being held below 50. CSU is limiting the opposition to just 34.9% shooting from the floor (21st) while committing just 13.6 fouls per contest (24th).
Making the Adjustments: Head coach Ryun Williams and the Rams have had some massive third quarters this season, helping them enter the final frame with the lead in 13 of 15 games. The Rams have proven they can make effective halftime adjustments as they outscore the opponent by an average of 7.6 points in third periods (+114). The mark is more than 2.0 points better than any other Mountain West team's single-quarter advantage, regardless of which quarter.
Rams Protect The Rock: The Rams do a lot of good things, but one of their secrets to success is actually something they DON'T do: Turn the ball over. The Rams have led the nation in fewest turnovers per game each of the past four seasons, coughing it up just 8.7 times per game in 2024-25 which was the only mark below 10.5 in the country. Over the past decade of NCAA DI women's college basketball, only two programs have averaged less than nine turnovers a game across a season: Villanova (2014-15, 2015-16), and Colorado State (2022-23, 2024-25). Nothing new in 2025-26 as the Rams are averaging just 10.5 giveaways, fifth nationally.
Road Rams: Colorado State has thrived on the road in recent seasons, going 13-2 (.867) in true road games since the start of the 2024-25 campaign. CSU is in the midst of a 12-game road winning streak, which is the second-longest active winning streak in the country (Columbia 13).
BargessHER: Lexus Bargesser transferred to Colorado State from Indiana over the summer and has become one of the top mid-major players in the country this season. The senior guard does everything on the floor for the Rams and is one of 10 players in the country to average 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
Big-Time Brooke: Sophomore guard Brooke Carlson is one of the most electric players on the floor, in part because of her lightning-quick speed but also for her recent play. Carlson has stepped up to lead CSU in scoring across the early stages of MW play, averaging 13.3 points on 42.1% shooting from the floor and 89.5% from the line.
20-Or-More: Colorado State has been a model of consistency under head coach Ryun Williams as the Rams have won 20-or-more games in each of the past four seasons. Throughout Williams' 13 seasons at the helm of the program, CSU has won at least 20 games in nine of those years.
One Last Ride: The 2025-26 campaign marks the final in the Mountain West for Colorado State as the Rams announced they will be leaving the league to join the Pac-12 beginning in the summer of 2026. Colorado State was a founding member of the MW in 1999 and have won seven conference titles (tournament and regular season) since. The Rams are looking to establish themselves as the leaders of the Pac and have gone 13-1 against future conference foes since the start of the 2024-25 season.
