Munoz Leads Ram Trio in Heptathlon Â
The heptathlon started with a bang as Mateo Munoz set the tone in the 60 meters. The senior recorded a lifetime personal best of 6.91, quickly followed by the first roar of the event from Ram faithful. Â
Â
Â
Â
Munoz continued to impress, raking in a third-place finish in the long jump due to his second jump of 6.88-meters/22-feet-7. Freshman Joe Probst ended with a respectable mark of 6.51/21-4.25, his first time competing as a multi for CSU. Munoz then claimed first in the shot put at 13.76/45-1.75 vaulting himself into first place overall after three events. Â
The high jump proved to be a strong point for the Rams with Probst clearing six-straight bars in his high jump debut. Zach Sell and Munoz made quick work of their first two clearances, then battled their way over the 1.95/6-4.5 bar. With four athletes getting a shot at the 1.98 mark, it was only Munoz who made it over the bar, tying his PR and ending the day on top with a score of 3,199. Â

DMR Heroics Â
After a near miss of the podium on the women's side (.09) seconds, the men strung together a bronze medal on their side of the distance medley relay. A strong second leg from Ethan Mann was capped off by a closing mile by Parker Westermann. The standout freshman passed two runners on the final leg, breaking into the podium with a relentless time of 9:41.94 and snatching the first medal of the week for the Rams.Â

Around the TrackÂ
In addition to the multi-events, other competitions took place on the day including the women's pole vault finals. Maria Kimpson served as the only vaulter for CSU, and the defending gold medalist from last outdoor season. Kimpson cleared her first bar at 3.84/12-7.25, then fell short on her next mark, finishing just outside of the scoring range.Â
The 200-meter prelims saw three Rams enter, with two men and one woman. Tyler Colwell was the closest on booking a ticket to the final, being bumped into 9th and out of the qualifying range by the twelfth and final heat.Â

Â
Â
The jump squad gets their first taste of conference with Jamison Taylor and Ndayiragije Shukurani in the long jump, both having scored in the event at indoor and outdoor conference. Â
Â
Â
Other events to look out for include the 60-meter hurdles; a race in which 7/15 athletes will compete under CSU. The men's and women's 400 and 800 meters as well as the end of the heptathlon. Â
