Carpenter Rewrites Program Record in 400-Meter Dash

Rams rack up podium finishes on day two of the Colorado Classic
BOULDER - Kenny Carpenter finished first in the men's 400-meter dash and set a program record with a time of 46.31 seconds on day two of the Colorado Classic in Boulder. Carpenter previously sat at No.5 in program history.Â
Carpenter, along with Ashton Whisler, Emmett Murphy and Sean Donelson finished second in the 4x400 (3:12.25).
In the women's 60-meter dash, Alora Tortorelli Cruz placed first securing a time of 7.59 seconds. Tatum Berg ran a 4:57.14 minute mile for a first place position. Chris Henry came in first with a time of 8:14.93 in the 3000 and remains at No.6 in program history.
Other podium finishes include second place Owen Langdon in the 60-meter hurdles (7.83), followed by Trenton Givens (7.90) in third. Tyler Colwell finished third in the 60 (6.75), and claimed fourth in the 200 with a time of 21.36 seconds. Also in third position, Owen Casselman placed in the 1500 (15:21.95) and Ethan Mann in the 800-meter dash (1:50.39). Grace Lanfear took second in the women's 400 (54.56).Â
Looking ahead
Next weekend, the Rams will split and send athletes to the Jarvis Scott Invite in Lubbock, Texas, the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., and the Mountain Lion Open in Colorado Springs. The Mountain West Conference Championships (Feb. 26-28) are on the horizon.
