Tran Steps Away From Program After Five Years

Led Rams to two best single-season win totals
FORT COLLINS – After five seasons at the helm of the Colorado State women's tennis, coach Mai-Ly Tran is stepping away from the program to pursue other avenues.

"I want to thank Coach Tran for her time, hard work and dedication in bringing tremendous young women on and off the court to Colorado State during her time," Director of Athletics John Weber said. "Mai-Ly brought success that had not been achieved by our program in her time. I wish her luck in the next steps of her journey."

In her five seasons, the team compiled a 53-62 dual mark, 23-28 in Mountain West play. She guided the Rams to their two most successful campaigns, winning 16 matches in 2023 after posting 15 victories in 2022. Her team reached the semifinals of the Mountain West tournament twice, a status the program had only reached once prior to her arrival. In 2023, Tran's squad set the team record by winning seven consecutive duals. That season witnessed the Rams enter the ITA national rankings for just the second time in program history, remaining there for 12 weeks, reaching a high mark of No. 42.

She had three players earn six All-Mountain West honors in singles, with her top doubles team earning all-conference honors every season.

"I want to sincerely thank Colorado State University for the opportunity and for trusting me to lead this women's tennis program," Tran said. "Being the head coach at Colorado State has been one of the greatest honors of my life. This program has challenged me, shaped me, and given me relationships and memories that I will carry with me forever.

"I am deeply thankful for every student-athlete, staff member, alumnus, and member of the Ram community who showed up each day. While this decision was not easy, I leave with immense gratitude and belief in the future of Colorado State women's tennis. Thank you to everyone who supported me and our team throughout this journey."
