Colorado State Falls to Utah Tech in Non-Conference Matchup

Utah Tech scores in the 86th minute to take the lead, resulting in a CSU loss

ST. GEORGE, Utah -- Colorado St. lost to Utah Tech 1-0 on Sunday. CSU finished with a 19-12 shot advantage and put six shots on goal but was held scoreless. The Rams' total of 19 shots in the game surpassed their season average of 13.4, and their six shots on goal were above their season average of 5.8.

First Half
  •  CSU generated the early chances with three shots by 4:26, including Mia Casey's saved attempt at 3:12, and later added a corner kick before shots by Hanna McKay and Casey.
  • Utah Tech put together a response from 20:11 to 21:35 with two shots around a corner kick, including Lataya Brost's attempt off the top woodwork.
  • The Rams created the next chances as Breckyn Ferrell's shot was saved at 24:40, Shadia Valenzuela hit the top woodwork at 30:47 and Sydney Torres had an attempt saved; Addison Huber saved a late Utah Tech shot at 43:49, and the first half ended without a goal.

Second Half
  • Huber saved Jocelyn Wright's shot at 50:54, and CSU later generated chances through Ferrell and Kaja Dionne, with Dionne's 62:23 attempt hitting the woodwork.
  • The Rams pressed from 64:41 to 75:06 with five shots and a corner kick, including saved attempts by Danielle Charleston and Ana Kubiaczyk.
  • Utah Tech pushed back late, with Huber saving shots by Lataya Brost and Wright before Brost scored at 86:46 off assists from Gianna Tomasello and Ava Talaeai to make it 1-0.
  • Valenzuela put a shot wide at 87:09 and CSU earned a corner kick at 87:46, but Utah Tech finished off the 1-0 result.

Casey led the Rams with five shots and put two on goal. Huber played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with four saves. CSU posted four saves in the game, exceeding its season average of 2.8. Valenzuela added four shots. Ferrell recorded three shots, including one on goal.

CSU is 1-5-0 overall. Utah Tech is 4-3-1 overall.
