  • Title:
    Assistant Coach

Sara Hemmings, a former Rams player, has joined the Colorado State women[apos]s basketball program as an assistant coach. Head Coach Kristen Holt made the announcement.

A transfer from Arizona, Hemmings competed for the Rams during her junior and senior seasons, 2009-11 earning the title of captain as voted by her peers in the 2010-11 year. After overcoming an injury early in the season, Hemmings started 21 of 22 contests, leading the team with 3.2 assists per game.

[quote]I think Sara is a great addition to our staff,[quote] commented Holt, who has not had a full coaching staff in two years. [quote]She clearly understands the philosophy and direction of our team and wants to continue to be a part of putting a championship program together.[quote]

During her time in college, Hemmings served as an assistant coach and counselor to four Northern Colorado-area basketball and volleyball teams, including the Fort Collins Fever Basketball Club and Fossil Ridge High School.

[quote]I am very excited to stay involved in the program and remain a part of the CSU community,[quote] said Hemmings. [quote]Being familiar with Coach Holt[apos]s system as well as her standards and expectations for the team will allow me to easily transition into the assistant coach position and hopefully make an impact quicker.[quote]

The Greeley, Colo., native began her college career at Northern Colorado as a two-sport athlete in basketball and soccer in 2006-07. She then transferred to compete on the women[apos]s soccer team for Arizona in 2007-08 before making the final move to CSU.

Hemmings, an academic all-Mountain West selection in 2010 and 2011, graduated Cum Laude from Colorado State in May with a bachelor[apos]s degree in business administration.
