Colorado State head women’s golf coach Laura Cilek has announced the addition of Sarah Butler as an assistant coach for the program.
“We are very excited to welcome Sarah to the Ram family,” said Cilek. “Sarah has a wealth of coaching experience and I am confident that she will have an immediate impact in helping our student-athletes develop and compete. We can’t wait to get started and we are looking forward to a great spring season!”
Butler comes to the Rams from Iowa State, where she served as an assistant coach for the past five seasons. While with the Cyclones, Butler helped lead the team to four NCAA Regionals appearances and a pair of All-Big 12 performers.
Prior to arriving in Ames, Butler helped mentor the C-USA Freshman of the Year as well as a pair of golfers who were named All-C-USA in her lone season (2014-15) as an assistant at Old Dominion.
A native of Roseau, Minn., Butler was an assistant coach at Shattuck-St. Mary’s in Faribault, Minn., for one season and was a tournament director for the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) for two years prior to her stint at ODU.
Butler was a touring professional from 2007-10 before beginning her coaching career. She competed in the 2009 CN Canadian Women’s Open on the LPGA Tour and posted numerous top-10 finishes on the CN Canadian Women’s Tour.
A four-year letterwinner at Minnesota, Butler was named co-captain for the Gophers in her junior and senior seasons. She won the Minnesota Invitational and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2005.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in communication studies at Minnesota in 2006.
