Tennis Team Finishes 2004 Mountain West Tournament In Fifth

The Colorado State women?s tennis team defeated Utah 4-2 Saturday morning in San Diego, Calif. to win the consolation bracket of the 2004 Mountain West Conference Tournament.
The Rams started the day by winning 8-0 at No. 3 doubles and 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, earning the doubles point. The duo of Tatyana Ugorich and Alexandra Paganetti finished the season 8-2 against all conference opponents. Carla Pallares and Jasmin Singh defeated Cinthia Saucedo and Jessica Watts 8-6 to clinch the doubles point.
Utah tied the score at one point each when Sheri Esrock knocked off Dasha Zhurin 6-2, 6-2. Colorado State?s Jessica Jones then defeated Jenessa Jackson 6-0, 6-1 only to have Utah?s Watts tie the score at 2-2 after beating the Rams? Ugorich 6-2, 7-5.
Colorado State then clinched the team win after coming up with a 6-4, 6-4 win at the No. 4 spot by Charity Malone over Rachel Alder and a 7-5, 6-1 win at the No. 3 position by Pallares over Saucedo.
Colorado State finishes the season with a 13-12 record. This is the first winning season for the Rams wince 2001. No members of the 2004 squad were on the 2001 team.
