Box Score

Colorado State battled back against rival Wyoming, to win the volleyball match in five-games, 30-24, 27-30, 19-30, 30-22, 15-12 in front of a season-high 2,112 fans. The Rams improve to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in Mountain West Conference play and have won the last eight matches straight.

Senior outside hitter Tess Rogers led the team with 14 kills and senior outside hitter Casey Bauer added 13, while both senior middle blocker Dre Downs and sophomore right-side hitter Tonya Mokelki chipped in 11 kills each. Bauer tied her career-high with 16 digs to lead the match, while junior libero Katherine Whitney tallied 13 and freshman setter Ashley Fornstrom notched a career-high 11 digs. Downs also tallied a match and career-high 12 blocks on the night.

"I think this was a nice gut-check for us," said head coach Tom Hilbert. "Wyoming ran their system very effectively and it was frustrating for us to play them. Wyoming served very tough but I have to hand it to my team. They composed themselves -- especially Dre -- she carried us with her blocking the last two games."

"I really have to commend Tonya," continued Hilbert. "She's hanging back there not getting a lot of notice and hits .409. She needs to get ball more and she did a pretty good job blocking the ball."

Wyoming was led by freshman outside hitter Kelsey Loop with 14 kills, while sophomore outside hitter Rachel Smith had 13 kills and sophomore Angie Hellbaum added 10. Freshman setter Tasha Weishahn led the team with five service aces and 13 digs.

Colorado State will face BYU on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. The Cougars defeated TCU earlier this evening in straight games. On Sunday, Utah will come to town and face the Rams on CSTV at 4:00 p.m.
