Nohr Leads Rams Past Spartans

The Colorado State University women's basketball team improved to 4-5 on the season with a 76-57 victory over the San Jose State Spartans (0-10) on Saturday afternoon at Moby Arena.
The Rams were paced by an 18-point effort from senior Molly Nohr, one of three Rams to finish in double-figures in the contest. Freshman Juanise Cornell posted a career-most 15 points and recorded eight rebounds in the game, while senior Marilyn Moulton notched her first career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the contest.
Offensively, Colorado State struggled in the first half, shooting just 27.5 percent from the floor in the opening stanza. However 16 Spartan turnovers, resulting in a 12-3 differential in points off turnovers helped the Rams to a 27-19 lead at intermission.
Turnovers continued to hurt the Spartans who gave the ball away 12 more times in the second half, helping Colorado State to pull away and seal the 76-57 win. The Rams were able to shoot at a much higher percentage in the second half, connecting on 44.1 percent of their shots.
Freshmen Raysha Ritter, Emily Neal and Ashley McFarland provided a spark for the Rams off the bench, as two the teams leading scorers, Kelly Jo Mullaney and Sara Hunter, were held to six points and five points, respectively. Ritter posted a career-high nine points and seven rebounds in 17 minutes of action, while Neal chipped in with seven points and five rebounds in the contest. McFarland checked in with six points and four rebounds.
Myosha Barnes led the way for the Spartans with 15 points in the contest. Teammate and leading scorer Brittany Helm added 13 points for San Jose State.
Next up, Colorado State will face Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m.
