Women's Tennis Faces Two Mountain West Opponents The Colorado State women's tennis team travels to Fort Worth, Texas for a weekend of Mountain West Conference play. The Rams, who are 8-5 this season, face No. 59 New Mexico on Saturday and take on No. 19 TCU on Sunday.
New Mexico is 8-2 this season, with wins over No. 57 Ohio State, No. 52 Oklahoma State, No. 54 Texas Tech, and New Mexico State and losses to No. 12 Arizona State and No. 27 Fresno State. No. 27 Maja Kovacek and No. 116 Iva Gersic lead the Lobos in singles and and are the No. 2 doubles pair in the country with a 25-3 record.
TCU is 8-5 this season defeating No. 16 Harvard, No. 13 Vanderbilt, and No. 27 Fresno State and losses to No. 3 North Carolina and No. 28 College of William and Mary. The Horned Frogs are led by No. 12 Nicole Liembach, No. 41 Helena Besovic, and No. 105 Ana Cetnik in singles play. Besovic and Anna Sydorska are the No. 15 doubles pair in the nation.
Rams Sweep Spring Break Matches The Rams returned from Colorado Springs and Las Vegas with four wins and are now 8-5 this season.
Colorado State defeated Air Force, 5-2, at the beginning of the week to claim the first conference win of the season. Emily Kirchem and Anne Andersen won in doubles and singles play by defeating Kat Bushey and Christine Abayan, respectively in singles play and as a pair in double play. The Rams swept doubles play, Lauren Strasburger won at No. 3 and Carla Pallares won at No. 4 to score the other Rams' points.
In Las Vegas, the Rams dominated by winning all of the doubles matches. Colorado State also won in singles at No. 1Emily Kirchem, No. 2 Anne Andersen, No. 3 Lauren Strasburger, No. 4 Carla Pallares, and No. 5 Jasmin Singh all week. The Rams struggled at No. 6 with inexperience and injury.
