Benton Moves Up to 30th at NCAA Regional

Auburn, Wash. - Colorado State's Chelsea Benton moved up 15 spots after shooting a three-over 75 in the second round of the NCAA West Regional in Auburn, Wash., and is now in a tie for 30th place with a two-round total of 152 (+8).
Benton was even par through six holes before a triple bogey on the seventh. Benton registered three birdies and three bogeys as well on the day. She hit 13 of 14 fairways and reached 14 of 18 greens in regulation on the day.
"I thought I played okay today", commented Benton. "I was a little bit disappointed with my triple (bogey) but otherwise I thought I played pretty good. Tomorrow I just want to hit as many fairways and greens as I can and the rest will just fall into place."
Paige Mackenzie of Washington increased her lead individually after shooting a three-under 69. She holds a two-round total of 137 (-7) and leads the field by seven strokes.
Purdue surged into the top team spot with Friday's round of 294 (+6). They are in first by eight strokes with a 583 (+7).
Benton concludes the with the third and final round of the tournament Saturday at the Washington National Golf Club.
