LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) -- Brad Jones scored 25 points in leading Wyoming past Colorado State 75-70 Wednesday night.

The Cowboys (12-8 overall and 3-3 Mountain West) also got 17 points from Brandon Ewing and 15 from Daaron Brown.

The Rams (14-5, 4-3) were led by forward Jason Smith's 20 points and 10 rebounds.

With just under 10 minutes left, freshman Eric Platt gave the Cowboys a 50-47 lead after knocking down two consecutive 3-pointers, his only points in the game.

Smith kept the Rams close, but with a minute remaining Platt stole the ball and passed it one-handed to Ewing down court. Ewing slammed down a two-handed dunk to put the Cowboys up 67-60.

The Rams knocked down 3-point shots, with makes by Tim Denson, who added 11 points, and Stephan Gilling, as the final minutes ticked away, but the Cowboys hit eight of their last 10 free throws to hold them off.

The Cowboys led 31-28 at the half.
